What is Structural Integration & What to expect in a session

Structural Integration is a scientifically validated body therapy.

Unlike massage, Structural Integration focuses not on the muscles but on their protective layer, called fascia (also known as connective tissue). Muscles are contracting tissues that give the body and organs physical movement. The fascia surrounds the muscles, bones and organs in the body. The fascia gives muscles their shape and the body its structure.

Structural Integration aligns and balances the body by lengthening and unwinding the fascia. As fascia is lengthened it allows the muscles to move more efficiently. The practitioner will apply pressure to the body, working the entire fascial system in a systematic way. When restricted fascia is released and lengthened the body can return to its structurally optimal position.

The continuing pull of gravity, the stress of daily activities and physical injuries can pull the body out of alignment. The fascia gradually shortens, tightens and adjusts to accommodate the misalignment. When the body is out of alignment it creates inefficiency and imbalance resulting in stiffness, discomfort and loss of energy.

When a body is aligned and balanced it moves with greater ease. It requires less energy to function. Good posture is effortless and breathing is easier. The body becomes more flexible, more coordinated and athletic performance improves.

What to Expect in a Session

Every session is designed to support the way your body moves, balances, and holds tension. The work is slow, intentional, and customized based on what you want to change.

Before We Begin

We start with a short conversation about what’s happening in your body. You’re welcome to share any injuries, mobility concerns, stress patterns, or goals you have. This helps me understand what your structure is asking for.

Posture and Movement Assessment

I look at how you stand and move to see where your body is compensating or carrying strain. This gives us a clear starting point and guides the direction of the session.

Hands-On Structural Integration

The hands-on work is focused, precise, and respectful of your pace. I work with the fascia and connective patterns that influence posture, tension, and movement. Sessions are typically a blend of direct pressure, slow unwinding, and guided movement.

Collaboration Throughout

Your feedback matters. You’re encouraged to tell me what you’re feeling so we can adjust and make sure the work is effective and comfortable. Each session builds on the last, helping your body become more aligned and resilient over time.

After Your Session

Most people notice improved mobility, a feeling of ease, better posture, or a sense of lightness. Sometimes there’s mild soreness as the body adjusts. I’ll offer simple suggestions to help you integrate the changes and support your progress between sessions.

Session Length

Sessions typically last 75 minutes.

Session Options

You can book single sessions, a focused 3-session series, or the full 10-session Structural Integration series for deeper, long-term change. Each option is designed to meet you where you are and support your goals at the pace your body needs.
